The Well at the Laughing Goat

Dear Well, thank you for giving us some of your water.
It was wonderful to get to play for a large and appreciative group of people last night in Boulder at the Laughing Goat on Pearl. We were blessed by the amazing music - sources, as she described it - of Georgia Rose Park. Source is a french word meaning spring. Some artists stand at the spot where traditions come out of the earth, and Georgia Rose is one of them. She is not following any blueprints, not struggling like a salmon to spawn back to an imagined happier time. She has grown up surrounded by the springs of Appalachian music, in her family and in her ears, and now the sound’s essence comes from her directly and washes over us all on its way downstream. Unfettered by abstraction, her music raised in me the memory of what led me into music in the first place and gave me the joy to see how far it has all come. What an honor! The mark of great music is that while merely good music may make you want to quit, great music makes you want to continue. From the starting point of that spring, we were able to find our own bearings and speak the truth that we’re here to do. Our love and gratitude to all of you in that room that shared this with us, Round Mountain
