Keep the shrines. Click here to listen to "Indeed I Do" now
A dear friend once had a dream in which he heard a voice say, "The problem with people today is they aren't keeping the shrines." That image stuck with me. The other day in the Manzano mountains, I was struck by the realization that Round Mountain is about keeping shrines through music. In those mountains, remembering the way a direct contact with nature fuels my inspiration and my hope for humans, I began to see more clearly what our work is: to share this path and this longing with people. Here are the words:
The spring comes from the ground
A singing can be heard,
In the morning I hear you, indeed I do,
Chorus
The face that I see
But I recognize you,indeed I do,
Chorus

a door that makes no sound
is swinging open,
the year is in motion.
the singing of a bird.
I know she is coming,
I know she is coming.
and I know I am near you, indeed I do.
I go looking for you, indeed I do,
till I come to a door.
Will you open up the way for me
down to the spring inside of me,
Water full of fallen leaves,
water of my tears?
Will you show me how to keep that shrine,
bringing the water clear as wine,
rising up beneath the brine,
washing away this crying time till the spring is flowing stronger,
the days are getting longer,
and I am coming home.
reflecting in water
does not belong to me,
my sons, or my fathers.
with the sun behind you, indeed I do.
You've been standing by me,
guiding me to the door.
